Testing Framework
Every device reviewed by The Wellness Tech Report goes through our proprietary five-phase evaluation process. This framework was developed in collaboration with board-certified dermatologists, biomedical engineers, and consumer safety experts.
Unboxing & Initial Assessment
Build quality, packaging claims vs. specifications, safety certifications, included accessories, and instruction clarity are all documented before the device is ever powered on.
Technical Benchmarking
Using calibrated instruments, we measure actual output (light intensity, wavelength, temperature) against manufacturer specifications. Thermal imaging captures heat distribution patterns.
Controlled User Testing
A panel of 5-10 testers across Fitzpatrick skin types I-V uses each device for a minimum of 8 weeks following manufacturer instructions. Standardized photography documents results.
Safety Evaluation
Our clinical advisors review each device for potential adverse effects, contraindication accuracy, and FDA clearance validity. We verify every safety claim independently.
Scoring & Publication
Results are compiled into our standardized scoring matrix. The final review is fact-checked by a minimum of two editors before publication.
Scoring Categories
Each device is rated on a 10-point scale across five dimensions: efficacy (does it work as claimed), safety (risk profile and certifications), value (performance relative to price), usability (ease of use and design), and longevity (build quality and lifespan). These are weighted and combined into our overall WTR Score.
Independence Guarantee
No manufacturer has ever seen a review before publication. No score has ever been modified based on advertising relationships. This is non-negotiable.
